Emily Irene VanCamp initially aspired to become a professional actress however, she became intrigued after visiting Katie in the Ladies Room film set. While studying acting and acting lessons, VanCamp was offered the role of a guest on a television show in Canada. The shows that she had appeared in, besides other shows were Are You Afraid of the Dark? Radio Active and Dice. VanCamp's career exploded after being cast as Sam Dolan, a regular on WB Horror Mystery Glory Days. Even although the show had received favorable reviews, the show unfortunately had to be cancelled after just nine episodes due to its poor ratings. Despite her May 12, 1986 birthday her actress was offered a role on Everwood in its cast as Amy Abbott. Her performance resulted in her being nominated for the Young Artist Award nominee and for four Teen Choice Awards.
